Beautiful, classic, refined .. and to top it off is handmade. We make all our furniture to order from only quality materials and robust, time honoured techniques used to build them. Made from solid pine this table is built to last a lifetime. If you need to change any width, height or depth then let us know, as everything is handmade then these changes are no problem. Even change to styles such as changing the drawer style or plinth style which is no problem. Choose any Farrow and Ball colour for your furniture.
That’s no problem, all of our furniture is handmade so if you have a specific space to fill or you want to alter any of the existing designs we have on the site to suit your specifications then email or call us with the dimensions and we will put together a quote for you although some alterations don’t incur any extra costs.
All of our furniture is handmade to order and so our lead time is around 4-8 weeks to make and deliver to you. This is approximate as our lead times can fluctuate throughout the year.
Delivery to mainland England other than Cornwall, Devon and north of Leeds is £60, we do deliver outside of these areas regularly but please contact us for a quote for this. This is a one man delivery service and so he will need someone available to assist him if you’d like your delivery bought into your home. If you would like a two man delivery service then please contact us for a quote. See our delivery page for more details and a list of those locations.
You can have any of our painted furniture collections with a contrasting solid Oak top, waxed pine worktop or you can have it painted all over. They all look fantastic but it is personal choice and will just depend on what will work best with your interiors, the other furniture in your space and the style your going for.
The paint used at our workshop for the painted furniture is a Catalysed Paint which is specially produced for furniture. It is very tough, hardwearing and also gives a beautifully smooth, wipeable finish. Not all manufacturers will use a catalysed paint because it is more expensive, but we believe it’s the best option for all painted furniture.
Catalysed paint, unlike shop bought ‘regular’ paint, it contains a special hardening agent that means it drys and hardens very quickly. The Catalysed paint we use is very similar to the paint used in the Car industry, except the finish is a low sheen not high gloss. When hardened, a coat of catalysed paint adopts almost the hardness of a plastic coating. Obviously its not unbreakable but it is pretty resistant to thrown bunches of keys, dropped coins and the occasional bash with a hoover!
The biggest advantage of catalysed paint over standard types of paint is that it does not allow solvents through the surface. Most paints, over time, allow microscopic holes to form after they’ve dried, which enables liquids, air and other elements in the environment to deteriorate the paint. Because catalysed paint dries more quickly, holes take much longer to form, and the coat, therefore, lasts much longer than conventional paints. Catalysed paints, when applied, are hard and will also resist other materials permanently marking them, making them effective at repelling spilt Tea, crayons and make up! Basically, as in everything else, we try and use the best paints possible to ensure that your furniture is better finished and more hardwearing than the norm.
Choosing colours is fun not an exact science. You can choose any colour from the Farrow and Ball range, this option is included in the price you see. You can pick up a chart from DIY shops and decorators centre, it’s always best to look at the physical chart not the online
Because our Furniture is customised to your order we are not able to accept returns if you do not like the colour, however we will always assist where possible. We advise you take your time to choose the colour and use a physical colour chart to help with this. We don’t need your colour choice straight away when you make an order, up to around three weeks after you’ve placed your order is when we will need to order you choice of paint colour, so take your time!
All of our furniture is made using traditional cabinet making techniques, these include dovetail joints on all drawers and Mortise and Tenon joins throughout the cabinets themselves. All of our furniture is made of solid pine throughout and will have expansion grooves where appropriate to minimise movement within the pine. Our skilled cabinet makers have decades of experience in the furniture manufacturing industry and they are passionate about it too. They use a mixture of traditional techniques and modern methods to create furniture that is built to last a life time.
All the furniture you see on our site is made of FSC sustainably sourced solid pine. The materials are hand picked by our carpenters to pick up the best quality boards with the least amount of knots. We use American oak as a worktop option, a hardwood which is strong and heavy. It has a beautiful grain and is light in colour. We use … oil to finish our oak worktops because of its superior quality. We can build any of our furniture designs or any bespoke designs using other timbers instead of pine, tulip is a popular option. Please contact us for a quote to manufacture in other timbers. We are proud to hand make our furniture here in the UK.
The standard handles we use on all our furniture is a beautiful understated round cabinet handle and a traditional cup handle both in a satin nickel finish. Both heavy and great quality. We can supply them both in other finishes. Apart from the standard satin nickel, the round handles can be ordered in chrome, satin chrome, polished nickel, satin brass, polished brass, antique brass, matt bronze and matt black. Apart from the standard satin nickel, the cup handles can be ordered in the satin brass, antique brass, pewter and antique burnished brass. We can also fit hinges to match most of these finishes. If you’d prefer a more traditional farmhouse look then we can also supply oak, beech and pine mushroom handles finished or painted. Alternatively if you have your own handles that you’d like to match to existing furniture or your kitchen then you can send them over to us and we will be happy to fit these for you.
All of our shelves are adjustable using shelf pins. All the cupboards have a shelf inside each. Our drawers are traditionally made, they run in and out through the frame and carcass but if you’d prefer soft closing drawers with the drawers running on Blum fixings then that’s no problem, the cost of this specification is £50 per drawer. The insides of the base units, cupboards and drawers, come unfinished as standard. If you would like the insides of the cupboards, insides of the doors and entire drawer box painted then that’s no problem, the cost for this specification is £70 for larger units (six and seven ft) £65 for medium sized units (four and five ft) and £60 for smaller units. The insides of cupboards with glass doors and TV dressers with bifold doors are always painted.
If you are ordering a TV Dresser with or without bifolding doors then we can alter the width of the TV section to ensure your TV fits and because TV sizes vary so much, we make this alteration on nearly all orders for these units. So when ordering just let us know in cms how wide you’d like this space to be and we’ll make it to that size. We don’t charge anything for this alteration.
At Nest at Number 20 we have made everything from fitted kitchens to wardrobes, fitted home offices to bathroom vanity units as well as every type of freestanding furniture. So if you are looking for something and you don’t see it on our site then feel free to message us or call us for a quote. A photo, sketch or just a description with dimensions should be enough to give you a price. Have a look at our testimonials page or our Pinterest page to see customer photos. https://pin.it/ 7ibT2YY
